At first I chose to view my video on a portable DVD player in the park, but because the weather was so bad i didn't rely have the time to mess around. I then just decided to show it in a classroom and i am so glad i did now because it made it so much better, my video is based in a classroom so to show it in a classroom linked to my video.
I made it a little more interesting and placed it under a table so people that viewed it had to go under the table i also done it in a room full of people so then it gave off the atmosphere that was like to the video. I am glad i changed it to this because it made allot more sense.

My Feedback
I shown my video in a classroom full of people and placed it under a tabvle to create an atmosphere that would link to the video. I asked 6 people to view my video from several classes that were going on outside, they were given a questionaire to fill in after they had watched it my feedback varied between good and bad due to peoples oppinions, but overall it was a good outcome.
I enjoyed making my video and I would like to do it again, I had never done somthing like this before and I thought it would turn out not so good but I was pleased with the outcome of it all.

What Would i do differently
If I was to film a video again I would change several things because it didn't go as well as I would of liked it to be, the thing I would change the most is the people I had involved as my actors because they were not very focused on what I was doing I would probably use people that I didn't really no because then they wouldn't feel comfortable to be so distracted.
My video is like something along the lines of girl chewing gum, there are many changes that are not similar but it just reminds me of it because Rosie the main actor is just sitting there and there is no life in her and in the video girl chewing gum everyone is just getting on with themselves and there own life. Mine is based in a classroom the thing I found most successful is the main actor in my video also the place it is set in goes well with the video.

My diary
Hello, today the 13-11-09 I decided it would be a good idea to film my experimental video it is all about that everyday seems to be the same boring thing and basically that life is what you make it , all the people that I needed to be in it were in college. It went ok i suppose many things could of been better like for people to take it more seriously, Rosie helped me set up my equipment and we chatted about what way would look best this helped me a lot.
The main actress was very good and took it really seriously, I was slightly annoyed at the other actors I had as they just didn't seem to care so much about it and decided to be really of task due to this is it took me a lot longer to film.
Yesterday on the 16-11-09 I imported my video onto the computer there was a scene on there that was not very good so I then decided to re take it and filmed for about 50 Min's of a clock in the class room I then imported it onto the computer and I am ready to edit.
Hello I have now edited my video and cut it into what I wanted I then had to speed up the footage of the clock so then it is fast forwarding. I then decided to add my own slide on the end to give it a caption of life is what you make it. I then had to export it to quick time witch was a success.
Last but not least I added it into a DVD Crater and the burned it onto a CD.
my project is now complete.
Thanks :) x

Exhibition of experimental video
I have chosen the gardens in Crawley just opposite the college to view my experimental video, I chose this because there is many people in there every day and the range of different ages is great there are young kids, adults, old people and students. This will give me a good view off my video. To get feed back on what people think I'm going to ask people to fill in a questionnaire on and then when I get back to college I can see what many peoples opinions are. If I ask someone to watch it and they say no my next plan would just be to ask the next person because there is people walking threw all the time.
We had to have your exhibition finished by the end of the week and because the weather had been so bad by Friday i still hadn't had the chance to show my video to a range of people that i didn't no.
In the end i thought about the whole thing and decided to do it indoors it would be better in a way because my actually film is based inside. I played it in a classroom full of people but under a few desks and had the projector underneath and only one person at a time could watch. To get different people that i didn't no to view my video i went into other classrooms and ask for a few students at a time. This was a success and i got some good feedback and some not so great but overall it was a good outcome and most people enjoyed watching it.
< The way the viewers saw it.
< my view of them watching it form the side.

Narrative and non-narrative structures (Chapter 3)
Many art works are non-narrative pieces of work for example muto, this is because people would go to an art gallery to take bits out of a video and would not be expected to sit and watch the whole thing people generally just take out of it what they want to and don't stay for the whole thing. Whereas in a cinema you would be expected to go in and watch the whole film form start to finish. something you would watch in a cinema is narrative. I don’t think it is that important to have a narrative because your view many things in your own way and look and take in as much as you want or nothing at all.

Muto
The film muto by blu is very well done and made me very confused when i first started to watch it this is because i first thought how is it all moving when its on a wall. Its all about stop frame animation and i think it is an amazing video and all links in together nothing is out of place. it is all spray painting several images on the walls to create a meaning of some sort, there was a lot of craft involved with this video because it is all painted on the wall and then pictures taken each time this must of took a very long time. The concept behind this video could be seen as birth, death and re birth.

Girl chewing gum
A girl chewing gum by john smith is a very old looking video that looks like it is made in the days were everything to do with film is in black and white. The thing i find most strange is that its called a girl chewing gum but there is only on short thing were a girl crosses the road chewing gum but the rest of the video is just random people walking thought the street and the narrator is just making it seem like he knows every ones business, to begin with your mind believe that he is actually there but at the end of the video hen says he is no were near this street so therefore this means he made a video and just edited it to fit the characters that were walking past.
The concept of this video is that some tings can look like its really happening whereas it is actually not never believe what you hear and see on a video because you never know the truth behind it unless you are there yourself .

Audience, and audience interpretation of the work (Chapter 6)
The audience's interpretation of a piece of work can all depend on a person themselves and how there feeling, this is because not every ones mind work and thinks in the same way. For example the video doll face has several ideas that people have had to make the concept, the way people look at this and decide what they think the concept is could all depend on allot of things to do with the person themselves by what day they have had or if they have eaten etc.
I think it's good that people have their own opinions and reactions to pieces of work because it shows that they’re not scared or embarrassed to express their feelings about it and that they don’t have to have the same reactions as other people.
At the Tate Modern, there is a huge table and chairs like a giants dinner table with big chairs in a big room, and some people were looking at it in silence with slightly confusion but others were turning this piece into a joke by saying, “could you imagine a person that big ha ha!”.
several people have different opinions depending on the way there mind works.

The use of technology and techniques and styles (Chapter 2)
The use of technology, techniques and styles can change the way you watch and look at something in a very strong way. I think that the way the technology is used to create a video can affect the way you think due to age as well as in general this is because young teenage people would more than likely prefer to watch a more modern videos this is because old video's can seem really dull and boring. Everything would be in black and white and maybe not a clear picture. However saying that koynaasqatsi is a old video but has a very interesting concept and uses lots of colour and a change of scenery so everything is always moving and making you think this is not a boring video it is very interesting to see.
The reason videos are very different in the way they are filmed can be because of money a girl chewing gum is basically just a video camera on a tripod were as koynaasqatsi is very technical and uses a variety of shots and colour. Doll face is a modern video and is all done by technology this is because the editor Had used allot more money and techniques and technology is allot better nower days.

To discuss both past and present artists and works. (Chapter 1)
There are many ways in artist works that tells us when it was made although some you would not be able to recognise. i have looked at several videos, the ones that interested me the most were Doll Face, koyaanisqatsi and girl chewing gum. This is because they all had and interest in very different ways.
Doll face is a recent video made by Andy Huang which had a concept linked to the media these days because they young girl just wants to reach out to the TV and be like a model off the television. This video links to the video Gisele Kerozene by Jan Kounen this is because there ideas are kind off the same in the way they use lots of animation.
Koyaanisqatsi is an old video made in 1983 by Godfrey Reggio, the general gist of the video is moving around different places like the grand canyon. There are several opinions to this video in the way peoples minds think. The concept of this video is that showing people that not everything is perfect and people need to think about other people and places. This video is very different compared to another old film called a girl chewing gum they are both very old but are very different to each other this is because in Koyaanisqatsi uses high colour were as a girl chewing gum uses back and white and is not a very clear video.
Although Doll face is a new video and Koyaanisqatsi and Girl Chewing Gum are old they can link to each other in a certain way because they are all perceptions, doll face is a perception of beauty and Koyaanisqatsi has a perception of the plannet also Girl chewing gum has the perception of truth because in the video it makes you think the man is actually there at the time but really he is not there at all.

gisele kerozene by jan kounen

This video is very creepy and weird after watching it, it made me think what was the meaning behind that and there wasn't much of a meaning but one thing that did come into mind is that it could be telling people that not everyone is a nice person.
This film is all about witches chasing each other and cutting there faces were they hurt themselves by crashing, because one off them is in a wheel chair and tries to catch another witch that is on a broom. there was no music in this film but the People in it were talking but no normally it was almost like an alien.
It is very heavily crafted because it is stop frame animation this takes a very long time to create so allot of time and effort is spent on this experimental video.
How theese works might enspire your own work. (chapter 5).
I came up with a few ideas for my film, one of them is more detailed and would take more time and concentration to do. I thought of maby i slow break up of a young couple that think they have everything as long as they have each other but when they break up the girl turns on a bad side and they boy id left with nothing. The concept of this would be everything seems perfect but you should never depend on one thing in life.
Another idea i had was just a plain simple film just to make you think an see that maybe sum peoples life is as miserable as the film would look. My idea was someone siting in a classroom just blinking constantly and looking at the clock every min, the concept behind this would be that every day seems the same old boring thing and you should try and make every day a smile.
Looking at other peoples work made it allot easier to get an idea of what experimental video is. This help me choose and idea because now i no that simple little films could be the ones that are big eye opener. For example doll face had many different view it was so simple but had allot of thought and interest.

A jump from a platform
This video was created by Stephen Talneau in 2007 at London it last for about 3 mins.
This was a very strange and weird video because at the beginning there is just water splashing up out of a swimming pool, everything is in black and white and slow motion of two young children a girl and a boy diving into the pool doing summer salts. there are a few people watching. There is no sound to the actual activity but there is a man talking over the sad sort of music that would be played in something like titanic. He is explaining how beautiful the young girl is and that these two people are in love and how everything they did was like an adventure, always laughing. There is then a girl voice talking back to the man and it seemed to be she lost the young boy.
What i thought the concept of this video was is that the two children had a great life together and everything was perfect to them and they were always together and then the young boy died and it is showing the video of what it was like with him around and makes you think about what life could be like one minute and how it can change the next.

koyaanisqastsi (life out of balance)
This film is created by Godfrey Reggio and last for 1 hour and 23 Min's.
The types of visual images used in this piece are:
The types of audio used in this video is:
Another thing the concept could be is that it is showing people that not everything is perfect and people need to think about other people and places.
The types of visual images used in this piece are:
- A rocket taking off and the dust going every were, it then moves onto a picture that seems to look like cave men.
- It is very dull and not much light it seems pretty calm.
- No.1 is around and it concentrates on the grand canyon for a while.
- Everything is fast forwarded as it is over new york and there are shadows moving over the place all the time at a fast passe.
- Lots of junk and waste food all over the streets looks really dirty.
- Looks vandalised, old rusty broken windows and the buildings are falling down.
- New buildings very nice and shiny, busy streets.
- Towards the end there is a lit up city looks very nice but is fast forward so everything is moving quickly.
- At the end there is a rocket setting off and blows up in the air and it is slowed down as its falling threw the air.
The types of audio used in this video is:
- Piano playing and chanting/singing of a man over the instrument played.
- Deep notes and voice
- The sound makes a quiet and relaxed atmosphere and makes you think into what is happening.
- Music seems like it is building up into something that is going to happen.
- The music changes to loud then to quiet in various parts.
- Music gets louder and faster like it is a panic.
- At the end of the film it is the man chanting again whilst the rocket is coming back down.
Another thing the concept could be is that it is showing people that not everything is perfect and people need to think about other people and places.

The use of exhibition space to create meaning (chapter 4)
* If there was a famous piece of art in a classroom the atmosphere would be completely different to in a art gallery this is because less concentration would be on the art in a classroom because everyone is not there to see it also not everyone in a class room would be in silent and people would be distracted.
* every different place a piece of art is put changes the way people look and feel about a particular object because of the atmosphere and the surroundings of were it is.
* In an actual art gallery the atmosphere would be very calm and relaxed this is because everyone there is visiting to look at famous pieces of art and will be taking it all in, concentration from everyone would be excellent.
*The reason for art gallery's is so then peoples work can be viewed in a good space and it will be very bare, also it is not a joke around its a place to be taken seriously.
*people would prefer to be quiet because famous drawing are not what you see very often and people come to look without interruption and quietness helps people to think more about the picture.
*if a picture was protected in a gallery by Gard's and plastic over the picture helps us think and the context in which you view something is as important as the work.
This creates a meaning to any piece of art, the gallery is not just there for a place to view art, it is also a place of meaning because it changes the way you look and think about things this makes the objects inside have more of a meaning, Where as if there was famous pieces of art in a class room it would have less of a meaning because not everyone is concentrating and letting people have the space and time to concentrate and view it in there own mind.
Another thing that changes peoples reactions and interests is that if it was an original piece of art many more people would stop and take the time to look and view it no matter were it was it would have a better affect on people as it would be the only 1.
Its very strange how a certain piece of art can change the mood in a room, there are several video rooms in the Tate some are big rooms with several pictures and a video playing constantly. There are very light rooms therefore people were not very silent and spoke to each other about the art, however there are some videos that are in a dark room with a few seats in this room the mood is very calm and silent this is because the atmosphere in the room makes people feel the need to be quiet.
Some pieces of art i find hard to believe that are classed as art, this is because some piece's are very good and look very complicated to have done or have crafted, whereas there are piece's of art that anyone could of created within the space of 5 Min's these sort of pictures are the ones that have a heavy craft. For example there is a massive picture on the wall in the Tate and it is of different colours if paper just cut up and randomly stuck down. Its hard to believe that this is art work because there is no craft gone into it apart from a few bits of paper cut up. It is now famous and the man who created it will be well known and well off, this piece of art is up in the Tate because apparently this piece was made whilst he was ill in bed from just things he had around him. If it is not very heavily crafted it could well mean it has a heavy concept this is because there are many different meanings and differences to art.
A concept is the meaning of what your looking at or watching for example the video doll face the concept is media influences, she is being controlled by the TV and wants to look like a person off the TV .

Doll face by andy huang
The concept of the video doll face is that this girl robot was once a young girl living a normal life and has now been taken over by the media, it looks like this young girl now wants to be just like a girl on the TV, she is a robot maybe because she is so unhappy with herself and wants to be like someone on TV and is now controlled by it. The craft of this video is all about the computer animation and features used.
